I'm going to New York for basically the first time ever next week. I went once when I was 13 but it was only for a few hours so I'm counting this as my first time.
I'm super excited and totally nervous. And I'm obviously basing all of my knowledge on Sex in the City which, is a terrible plan.
So far I've planned on packing 25 items of clothing, 6 pairs of shoes and 3 bags.....for a 6 day trip. I think that sounds reasonable.

all it takes is a $6 dress* to make me think that getting dressed is fun again.
*(It's not often I can be satisfied by a $6 dress, I won't lie to you.)
I go through periods where I'm uninspired and all I want to do is wear t-shirts and jeans. Sometimes you gotta dig deep, put something odd on and be totally overdressed in an inappropriate location (inappropriate like class, not a strip club or something).
Sidebar-I'm never going to lug a tripod around and take my own photo in a field or near a wall, I'm more an on the go outfit blogger. Which usually means I'm in my bathroom on my way out the door. :)

Also, this is what I wore yesterday to look professional while giving a presentation full of LOL cats. Professionalism at its finest.

had that moment where you can feel your style taking a sharp left turn from the usual path? Sometimes I really feel like I get stuck in a rut I mean, it's a rocker chic rut but it's still a rut.
Lately my style has been veering towards Bradshaw/Pillsbury-esque status. Maybe it's because I spend time at the library and it's hard to feel like people take me seriously in "edgy" clothing.
Either way I have to work to convince myself that it's okay for me to look girly or more feminine because it's not usually my thing. But Carrie can do it without looking too bland. It's so cliche to style myself after Carrie, I know, but at this point she's kind of what I've got as I build this new, unfamiliar style. And I'm still obsessed with Emma Pillsbury as work wear inspiration.
I figure, at some point I've just got to wear whatever I want to wear when I want to wear it. If I want to wear motorcycle boots one day and a 50's style dress the next day then why the hell can't I??
